How do you make plans?
Thursday
Day 6 at home
Blood work was done on Tuesday and this morning this week. All my numbers are dropping. As expected. I needed platelets yesterday. Have to go back this afternoon for more.
I made plans to pick up my big kid and his friends from school this afternoon. Friends have been helping so much with pick-ups and drop-offs and playdates and everything. Today, I was going to be able to do it. Plans change. I went in this morning for my blood work. My platelets have dropped even more. I'm at 1, it should be 140-400. I have random bruising everywhere. I had a feeling I would need platelets.
I go back on Monday and Thursday of next week for more blood work. My hemoglobin is dropping, I'm guessing I'll need a blood transfusion next week.
The nice thing is that all the transfusions are out-patient at the hospital. It takes a few hours, but I get to go home. I'm also glad they left the picc line in. It's nice to not get poked for blood and it was nice to not need an IV put in for the transfusion.
I've started to think about Christmas. We always like to do gifts that make memories instead of more junk for the boys. But, how do you make plans? We are considering passes for the water park or amusement park, but what if I'm sick or tired all summer. What if I'm still doing treatments? How do you make plans? Can I start planning a vacation? Am I allowed to vacation? Can I leave the country? Seriously, how do you make plans? And these are bigger picture plans. I can't even make plans for next week. My go-to answer is always, "maybe, we'll see how I'm feeling." Even though, I've been feeling great. I've had good energy. I haven't had bad side effects from the chemo. I should be able to make plans. I should be able to stop thinking this is going to get bad.
Will update again soon.
Love & Light.
